Josh Kerr marked a triumphant return from injury by reclaiming his 3,000m title, securing Great Britain's first medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.

Kerr, who previously won gold in this event on home soil in Glasgow two years ago, had his defense of the world 1500m title disrupted by injury in Tokyo last September.

Six months after suffering a calf tear during that final, Kerr showcased his full recovery by overpowering a world-class field that included the entire lineup of Olympic 1500m medalists.

The 28-year-old, now a three-time world champion, made his decisive move on the final lap, distancing his rivals to finish in 7 minutes 35.56 seconds.

American Cole Hocker, who denied Kerr Olympic gold in 2024 and claimed the world 5,000m title last year, had previously out-kicked Kerr in their only meeting this season over two miles at the Millrose Games.

However, Hocker was unable to respond to Kerr's final surge and settled for silver, while Frenchman Yann Schrub took bronze.
