An overturned car was spotted partially submerged in the Anahulu River as heavy rain prompted flash flood warnings in Haleiwa, Hawaii, on Saturday, March 21, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Adriana Harlan, who operates under the Instagram handle @haleiwa_town with her husband Charles, provided this footage. In the video, Adriana can be heard remarking on the scene.

“Here’s the Anahulu River. This car came floating down. There’s houses back there in the valley. It went across, under this little bridge,” Adriana says in the footage. “This is where people kayak and stand-up paddleboard all the time. This is what it looks like right now. Oh my goodness. The water is really, really brown.”

A line of heavy showers and thunderstorms moved over Oahu on Saturday, with local news outlet Hawaii News Now reporting more than 200 people had been rescued in what was regarded as Hawaii’s worst flooding in 20 years. Credit: haleiwa_town via Storyful
